Silver Medalist at World Boomerang Championship, Prabhakaran S., Honoured at Samriddh Sanatan Sangh Programme

New Delhi, [India] August 11: Indian athlete Prabhakaran S., who brought laurels to the country by winning a silver medal at the World Boomerang Championship, was felicitated at the ‘Samriddh Sanatan Sangh’ programme held at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi.

During the event, Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying and Panchayati Raj, Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, honoured Prabhakaran S. for his remarkable achievement and presented him with an incentive of ₹21,000.

At the World Boomerang Championship, held in Indonesia from July 26 to August 5, 2026, Prabhakaran S., a resident of Padalur in Tamil Nadu’s Perambalur district, created history by winning the silver medal in the individual Endurance category. This marks India’s first-ever international medal in the sport of boomerang. Among 20 participating teams from across the world, India secured 11th position in the championship.

Prabhakaran, who has consistently remained among the top performers for the past three years, delivered an outstanding performance at the championship. Besides being an accomplished athlete, he is also working as a coach and mentor, training children in the sport of boomerang.

Meanwhile, India’s women’s thrower Bhavana Tyagi narrowly missed out on a bronze medal by just a few microseconds. Despite this, she delivered an impressive performance and secured fifth position in the women’s world rankings.

The programme was inaugurated by BJP National Organiser Nagendra Nath, Member of Parliament Jagannath Sarkar, and senior BJP leader Sudhanshu Mittal. Various issues related to Sanatan prosperity and cultural advancement were discussed in detail, along with deliberations on the future course of action.

The organisers of the programme, Dr. Shubhashu Singh, Ravikant Mishra and Nitin Kharbanda, welcomed the guests and participants. Founder Janmejaya Singh referred to the thoughts and teachings of former Vice-Chancellor A. D. N. Vajpayee and encouraged participants to incorporate them into their lives.

Minister of State Girish Mishra highlighted the importance of India’s rich cultural heritage and the concept of Sanatan prosperity, stating that the people of the country are increasingly working towards the path of progress and development.
