Empowering Rural India with Safe Water: Omicron Sensing Solutions’ Role as a Key Stakeholder in the Jal Jeevan Mission

India, June 12, 2025: As India advanced toward its ambitious Har Ghar Jal goal under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), the initiative aimed to provide every rural household with a Functional Tap Connection (FHTC) by 2024, ensuring regular access to safe and adequate drinking water.

The mission empowered states and Union Territories to create sustainable, community-led water supply systems through infrastructure development, institutional strengthening, and awareness around water conservation and management.

Seven states and UTs—Goa, Telangana, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Puducherry, and Haryana – successfully achieved 100% household water connections. Others, such as Punjab, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Bihar, have crossed the 90% milestone, moving steadily towards complete coverage.

Across these states, and in support of the Jal Jeevan Mission, Omicron’s water quality systems, flow meters, and remote monitoring solutions have been instrumental in ensuring real-time tracking of water supply and quality across several rural projects.

Omicron Sensing Solutions has deployed innovative groundwater monitoring tools and systems to support source sustainability, track rainwater harvesting, and aid long-term water conservation efforts. These innovations ensure not just access but accountability.

In alignment with Jal Jeevan Mission’s community-led approach, Omicron Sensing Solutions has also worked closely with water committees to train communities on system usage and maintenance, empowering them to manage their water resources.

“At Omicron Sensing Solutions, we’re proud to contribute to a mission reshaping water access in rural India. Our technology is built to create lasting impact—drop by drop,” shared Dr. Harshil Shah, CEO, Omicron Sensing Solutions.
