Bogdan Ene: A Startup Mentor Filling the Gap in Business Education

Bogdan Ene’s journey to becoming a startup mentor is marked by resilience, curiosity, and an unwavering drive to create meaningful change. From early childhood entrepreneurship to owning a platform that helps aspiring entrepreneurs fund their business ideas by connecting them with private investors worldwide, Ene’s story exemplifies growth, determination, and the pursuit of a larger purpose.

At just seven, Ene juggled school with swimming lessons. Though he often felt exhausted and begged his parents to let him quit, they encouraged him to persevere. Looking back, Ene acknowledges that the discipline, challenges, and mindset he developed through swimming shaped him deeply. One pivotal moment came at age eight when, during a training camp, he overcame his fears to swim across a lake. With the support of his coach, he pushed through and reached the other side, a defining experience that boosted his confidence and resilience.

By his teenage years, Ene had become a national swimming champion in Romania, but his ambitions reached beyond the pool. A fascination with business and financial independence surfaced early on. At just nine or ten, Ene embarked on his first entrepreneurial venture, repackaging and selling airsoft pellets to neighborhood kids. This early spark of entrepreneurship continued as he grew, expanding his ventures into selling pens, personalized cards, and Shamballa bracelets to friends and celebrities. His early ventures highlighted his sharp business instincts and foreshadowed the impressive career he would later build.

Despite his clear entrepreneurial leanings, Ene initially chose a traditional career path. He pursued Mechanical Engineering in Oil and Gas at his hometown university, planning to take over his family’s industrial logistics business. He achieved significant success, managing large contracts and founding a rental business for lifting machinery. However, as his vision began to diverge from his father’s, frustration grew. Ene ultimately realized that the family business didn’t align with his deeper passions.

A period of reflection led him to leave the family business and pursue what truly made him happy—mentoring and inspiring others. Recognizing gaps in traditional business education, particularly for new entrepreneurs, Ene dedicated himself to providing the tools and guidance he had once needed. He pursued studies at the London Business School in Entrepreneurship and Private Investments, along with an MBA Essentials course at the London School of Economics. This knowledge equipped him to launch Mentortain, the world’s first smart social media platform focused on educational videos by verified creators.

With Mentortain, Ene seeks to provide a solution to the time-wasting content prevalent on platforms like TikTok, aiming to combine education with entertainment. His mission is to empower people with knowledge, especially aspiring entrepreneurs. Through his course, “Launch and Get Funded: 12 Steps to Build a Business That Investors Love,” Ene offers a roadmap for success and funding opportunities via partnerships with Inventikus and Monaco Foundry.
